What is wrong with mercedes
in this day and age why on earth to MB want to charge $100 for a DVD with servicing information in it. My CLK 55 has developed a number of electrical faults and information on the electrics are scarce. The car only has 20k miles on it from new, it can not be hard to make stuff that is more reliable than that.
So Mercedes, please stop being a dinosoar, we are in an information world with the internet at our fingertips. Get yourselves into the 21st century and put all your technical documentation on line so your customers and community have half a chance of understanding and maintaing the cars that you expect us to buy for a premium....but somehow now appear to consistently fail to deliver on overall quality....
If you are minded to send me a CD with the technical docs for my car I would very much like to receive one....

Its All New Cars ,10-15 years ago when all the locaal corner garages closed , and the govt began enforcing car standards , the stealerships knew they would have the consumer by the short hairs , There is very little profit on the current sale of a new car , and due to tech they know you are going to have to come in for service. Unless you have thousands of dollars in test equipment and tools. Thanks to engineering the known failure interval for most any part of Any newer car is a known scientific tested and designed fact , akin to a light bulb , 1200 hours or 5 years. Its a shame really , but thats how they now stay in business . They all are junk , especially automatic transmissions , the worst thing for overdrive is a hill or incline ,its the reverse leverage on the drivetrain , and every other part in the car is made as light as possible to get the maximum fuel mileage . Ut takes energy to move that mass of iron , they are built as light as possible , 1/3 the body is aluminum or alloys , 1/ is wiring sensors , computers , rubberhoses , plastics , some new tech cars weigh more than a car from 20 years ago thanks to electronics and anti smog equipment , and to reduce emissions they Run them Hotter than an older motor would tolerate , Not that the new ones sustain it any better or longer , but by then the warranty is over.

A buddy got a new M-B C-series sedan. It spent so much time in the shop during its first year that when he had to pay $200 for the first oil change he made an even trade for a new Lincoln sedan and its four-year pay-nothing warranty.

It's the same arguement I hear about buying domestic vs off-shore products.
Everybody thinks we should stop buying from China.
Ever seen a Wally-World with an empty parking lot?
Cars are the same, people want the best buy possible, i.e. cheapest price, but then complain that the corners that got cut means the car isn't reliable.
I have family in Europe, they think it's hilarious that we'd (North Americans) buy a $35-50k vehicle knowing it was going to be worthless and mostly worn out in just 3 or so years.
The average life expectancy of a car in Europe is 22 years.
I have several M-B's, my daily driver is an '02 SUV with more than 200k MILES on it, it still runs and drives like a new car.
IMHO, buying the cheapest of any companies products is a mistake, remember the Cadillac Catera's and Cimarron's?

Ya'all don't remember this guy apparently. Posted about 10 different Mercedes in 11 minutes two months ago. My guess is that a check of his IP address will point to China

Greg you are correct he was a link builder, though not from China this time. I deleted all of the links to the website he was promoting. One of the best in terms of the quality of the questions, but he used the same 10 posts on all the sites he posted on, which were numerous, using the same user name.
