I finally made the deal on my stand alone generator.

108KW, powered by a Perkins diesel. Two 200 amp auto transfer switches, fuel tank, charger, block heater, all wiring and installation. All for a mere 17 grand So Sad

Billy, I would love to see your idea of a large generator! Wink yeah right I'm also thinking you see it as a "few" chickens as well? I bet with that many in such close quarters, you cannot afford to go without electricity for any period of time; especially when it is hot outside. You gotta show us some pics of it.

If that's a small generator I suppose my tiny 13KW generator is microscopic! That sounds like quite a good deal. Is that new?

I remember when the idea first came up. Good to hear that it's there and working right as cold weather is closing in.

I don't know if the just under 2 watts per bird is the same as the original idea but it's that's a lot of watts for a lot of birds. If it were me, it's a good thing I don't have chicken because I used to use 500 watts per dog. At that rate for chickens I'd have to have my own hydro dam.

Chief; If I had a digital, I'd take some pics So Sad

Ken & Art; Yes, everything is brand new.

Tom; The integrator requires a 100KW for a farm my size. Later on, when money allows, I plan on running it to my house also.

UPDATE.

The generator is set and operational. It's powered by a 365 cu. in. inline 6 cylinder Perkins diesel. HP is 162.5 at 1,800 RPMs. There's a screen on the gen that tells the oil pressure, coolant temp, frequency, volts, amp draw and battery volt charge.

Billy, that sure sounds like a great setup. That deserves a big Tim the Toolman Taylor grunt!
