 Chippers shredders

I have been thinking about buying a chipper/shredder to take of trimmings from shrubs and tree prunings. I have a lot of trimmings from artic willow shrubs and quite a number of limbs from tree prunings, 1-3 inch diameter. I have been looking at the residential Echo-Bearcat chipper/shredders. Has any one had any experience with these chipper/shredders or any other brand they would recommend for residential use? I know that Bearcat has a small one with a Subaru engine that does up to 2" limbs and another one with a Briggs engine for a little more money that does 3" limbs. Any thoughts on this subject.

 Chippers shredders

Great machines if you have
-problems disposing of cuttings
-good use for the chips
-patience in feeding, adjusting, fueling, sharpening, ...
-stiff and dry softwood (willow is bendy)
-storage room for it
-plenty of excess cash

If not sure, rent one first.

 Chippers shredders

Auerbach recommendation to rent one first is a great recommendation. There have been a few items if I had would not be "storing" now. The few people I know who have bought a chipper seem to grow tired of them. I could use one maybe an hour a couple of times a year but the upkeep on a gas engine used like that is a bear.

If you don't mind used, think if you ran ad looking for a used chipper might find some deals. Also ask shops who repair small gas engines. Often people will take such in for repair and never pick it up. Got excellant professional trimmer that way.
