I am looking for a straw blower. I was wondering what any of you might recommend as far as brand and size. Does anybody make one that runs off of the pto on a tractor ? Thanks

Hi Bart, I have looked into them about 4 years ago when
I was installing lawns, two names I remember were Goosen
and Finn. I was never able to find them at rental yards
and was tired of doing the shake. Though I did not
purchase one I could say the best value was the goosen.
If you want to mulch miles and miles of roadside with a
DOT contract you gotta have a 30hp Finn trailer type
blasting straw 200+'. My advice would be call around to
rental yards and see if and what brand they have.

Bart,
How about using a chipper/shredder? I have a C/S with a blower, made by Bearcat, and the first thing I used it for was to chop and blow straw over freshly seeded area. As I recall, we pretty easily got 25-30' coverage, and I have a small unit. Of course, the C/S is usable for other work too...

Bart,

Sorry, I forgot to mention, my C/S is a BearCat model 70554, runs off the PTO, takes up to 5" branches, has a manual feed. HTH
