Here is a view looking up into the cupola. It is about 38 feet to the top. From where you can see the two by four "x"
there is still three more feet to the cupola peak.

I'm in Freeport on the inland side of 95.
Not too close to outletville!
There is plenty of green around too!
I just bought a JD LT 180 riding lawn mower.
I have an older JD 316 lawn tractor we've had for quite a while. I'm fixing it up to sell.
I have a JD 212 lawn tractor I'm restoring for my brother.
My father-in-law down the street runs a JD 1050 tractor and has two JD riders and a JD self propelled mower. Not to mention all the JD implements he has! We have much more John Deere than New Holland stuff.

ok, Tim, you really got me hooked on your project. Can you/would you give us some background, eg:
1. did you work off plans available from some source?
2. it appears from the pic of the cupola from below that you've got upper levels on either side, but clear to ceiling in center?
2. what did you use as foundation i.e. did you use a pole building approach or frame-type on footings?
3. looks like 30'x40' ?
4. if you don't mind, what cost range did you end up at before the concrete floor?
5. do you have doors on the other end ? sliders ?
6. do you plan to heat it? is it insulated ?

Hi Jim,
1.The whole barn was put together over the internet.I never even met the guy I was dealing with until the barn was nearly finished. I found a company in New Hampshire A&B Barns that had some nice photos so we picked out one we liked and emailed them for an estimate and to see if they would deliver to Maine.
If you agree to purchase the materials from them they will provide the CAD drawings and the engineer approved drawings.
A&B were fantastic to work with.If the carpenters needed anything they sent a truck up the next morning!
When I say "we" finished the barn I mean the builders finished the carpentry. I ran the power to it and did the wiring.
2.The loft is "U" shaped. It runs down either side to about half way and the center aisle opens up to the ceiling at about 1/3 of the way from the door.
3.The foundation is a 4 foot concrete frost wall on 2'X 2' concrete footings. It also has two concrete strip footings that run the length of the building to support the posts.The floor (which was poured yesterday)surrounds the posts and covers the strip footings.The barn is 36' X 48'. The framing is rough hemlock milled next door to the lumber yard in New Hampshire.The sheathing is 5/8" plywood and the siding is 6" western red cedar clapboards over Tyvek. The sill and the 6"X6" support posts are pressure treated.
4.The materials were $27,000 plus an extra $1800 for the cupola -The builders were $37,000(started last week of January and finished April 8) -The site work was $9500 (had to haul in 4 feet of fill).The foundation was $6,000-the floor was $4400-The electrical materials were about $1500-Paint?
5. It has one set of sliding doors 9 feet high and 12 feet wide. There is also a set of sliding loft doors over a 4'X6' opening.
6.I have no plans to heat it at this point.I may partition off a little shop area sometime.Right now it's just for the tractor and I don't think it minds the cold too much!

Speaking of breakdown, My wife almost had one when she saw how much the thing was going to cost us!
We have had quite a number of people stop by to take a look at it. Many have commented that it adds to the look of our property. Usually people complain when anything new is built in an area as exposed as our field. We have been pleasantly surprised to hear how much folks, even old timers, like the looks of the barn.
