How to replace lost Certificate of Origin for Polaris
Yep, I did it, I can't find the darned thing. Not only is the certificate missing but the bill of sale as well. Suspect it was in a folder that accidently got tossed out.
The bill of sale I can probably get from the dealer but suspect the certificate would need to originate at Polaris.
Any thought or experience with this?

My best guess is you are correct on both points but why or when do you need certificate of origin?

Cutter; When you say "Polaris", do you mean snowmobile, fourwheeler, or other machine? Does New York state require a car like title for these? Only vechiles with plate require a title in Iowa. Frank.

Frank it is a UATV 6x6 that I am thinking of selling. Was going to do it last year and then realized I had lost or misplaced the certificate. I do have the cancelled check from the dealer payment.

Ok, a certificate of origin is used to move a vehicle from factory to dealership. At the dealership you would normally surrender the COO for a Title. The COO is then 'gone' and replaced by the Title. If the vehicle is NOT registered by the State, then the COO acts like a Title, and yes the factory is the only body that can re-issue the COO.
