Gator Blades
I can't find the original thread where I saw them mentioned but I want to thank everyone who recommended them. I finally got some for my JD riding mower and the difference has been nothing short of amazing. I can cut ealier in the day when the grass is still a little damp and go faster (with a cleaner cut) than I could before. I am always a little skeptical but these are the real deal.
Thanks again!!!

Some decks gain far more then others, the ones that they don't have them for yet it's not that they aren't trying it's just that they have not been able to find a way to improve on the originals. Were they do have them available we do recommend them.

Art, I had to bring this Gator Blade thread back to life. I have a New Holland TC 33D with the 72 inch MMM and have been trying to get the Gator Blades. After giving them my part number the manufacturer tells me they "Just aren't available" for my deck. With all the different size blades they make I'm very disappointed. I have the High Lift Blades on my deck but wanted to try the Gators. Apparently there's more to it than saying I want (3) 24.5 inch blades.

Justus, what size pilot hole is on the factory blade?
It is likely a 5/8" but you need to be positive.
Your best bet is to straight to the manufactureres website (see link below) where you can order them directly.
If you order them using the link below, be sure to tell them in the remarks section what the thickness, width, center hole and so on.
They are good people and will be happy to help you out I'm sure.
Best of luck.

Murf, I think that is a 5/8 inch hole as you said. I'll have to check it out. The sad part is I just put the old blades back on the deck (after sharpening) and the deck back on the tractor.
The measurement that Gator wanted on my blades was not the 24.5 inch length but a "Diagonal" measurement. I had given them the 24.5 inch length as stated in my owner's manual, along with 3 inch width and .25 inch thickness. As I said, their response was "We just don't have Gator Blades available that is for your specs." I think they're getting tired of me bothering them every 6 months asking if they have blades for my deck. Thanks Murf, Steve.

Gator Blades
Well, another six months has passed. I removed the deck from the tractor, cleaned it up and measured the blades (again) in order to give the dimensions to Specialty Small Engine in Illinois for their Gator Blades. The Pilot hole on my blades is 7/8 inch. The Pilot hole on the blade that was closest to mine (For an X-Mark) was 5/8 inch. They said I could have a machine shop re-drill the holes to 7/8 inch but I don't want to do that. Also, the blades they talked about were only .203 inches, not 1/4" as mine are.
They also said that to make it worth their while to set up the machinery they had to sell about 7500 blades. They didn't feel they would be able to do that with my particular mower and so could not foresee manufacturing a blade for my mower deck. I'm disappointed. I guess I finally give up on Gator Blades.

Grinder, sorry for not responding sooner but as much as there are thousands of Kubota decks out there they are hard to beat in their original form. We sell two brands that they do have gator blades for and they do help. They don't mow like a Kubota to begin with at best, under ideal conditions.
