 Pocket Gophers Gone Wild

Update – I’ve developed a system that seems to work quite well at dispersing the little-buggers. I use the hose to open up the tunnels, then slowly pour used cat liter into the hole, letting the water carry it down into the tunnel. One application per colony seems to be enough. Although, I’ve been giving each colony a follow-up dose 1-week later, just in case. So far, all activity has stopped in the treated areas.

I always knew that some day those darn cats would earn their keep. Smile

A .410 set-gun made from pipe works well if you live in the country. Open the hole, place a small potato on the end of the push rod, point the set-gun at the hole, and wait for them to come along and close the hole. They push the rod only once. I won't go into details, but will say that I have seen them in action and they are very effective. Don't do this if there are pets or children around, and if you're not willing to face a double-felony (set gun and sawed off shotgun).
