The LS185B enclosed cab etc. is coming! The CEO approved it just this week. This will be budgeted for though. I will not need it for a few years, it will come just in a cash payment and at the right time. I am ok with waiting since I have the tractor but when we move this is a requirement as far as I am concerned.
On the wheeler subject. Funny story Murph! Unreal huh?
I can understand the thinking that a qoute will be used to lower some one elses price. That I am sure happens more times than not. Here is my way of thinking though. If I am a dealer and know I can offer one of the lowest prices around, I will offer it to a guy that is out of town but not out so far that he is dogging me. What can it cost (in time) A salesman to type a 3 sentence email? If it happens to be a guy like me, he will make the sale if he is the lowest. After a day of thinking< Hmmm Screw my local guy!!! He is sooo far out on left field (with his $5300 price I feel he was hoping I jusy shut up and paid it! IMO He has TOOK many many folk not so savy as I. In by book, thats stealing from a local! He knows he can come down but still plays me for a fool. We are talking 700 difference! I could see a few hundred but this dealer is the largest AND only one in town (a town of almost 100K)
I go back on my word but very very seldom. I told the emails, the lowest price gets my buisness and so I will honor that.
Thanks for ALL THE INSIGHT!
Tom

YOU GUYS ARE PRETTY TUFF ON SALES PEOPLE. TRY TO BE ONE SOME TIME. EVERYBODY JUST WANTS THE BEST PRICE. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. DO YOU GO BACK TO THE CHEAPEST ONE? GOOD SALESPEOPLE TRY TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP TO TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER AFTER THE SALE. MOST SALESPEOPLE ARE ON COMMISSION TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING. HOW MANY OF YOU CAN FEED A FAMILY AND STILL BUY TOYS ON $6 AN HOUR? THE CHEAPEST GUYS DON'T STICK AROUND LONG.

In defense of some of the comments made, ATVs are almost a commodity item. Especially the lower priced units. Many of teh guys on the board do their own maintenance and repair work so service quality is essentially a non-issue. Hence, it comes down to price.

On larger items like tractors, many on this board are willing to give business to a local dealer that has great service because the service aspect can be crucial. But just because one person has great service does not allow them to be completely uncompetative price wise. Am I willing to a go a few percent higher? Yes. Am I willing to go 15-20% higher? Nope. There is a value assigned to good service. Exceed that value and you lose the sale.

I can't think of a single reputable business that would be able to make enough sales, at a high enough rate of mark-up to be able to pay a decent salesman enough money to live on purely as a commission.

Any good shop will pay the salesmen a salary plus commission.

Further, any good salesman knows that you are better to make many smaller commissions than a few big ones.

Best of luck.

He then says that he gets so many cancels every day...just can`t seem to understand it???Wifey comes home and I tell her anout the happenings..We both use a magnifing glass on the add...some kinda mumbo jumbo 1/16th lettering ,black on a black dark brown cammo add...could barely make out the word dealer...Needless to say then i`m really P.O.ed..E mailed B.B.B. ....Processed a complant against the company..B.B.B. sent a reply..complant processed...also seems like i`m not the only complant..no wonder..How in the hell they could justify a $1,200.00 mark up..handleing and dealer prep..comeon give me a break..Long story short month went by and I get a phone call from the company MANAGER stating that they were pulling the add and re wording it with either the full price or the wording prep/handleing in large block letters..asked me to drive to Mich and he would give me a super deal ( ya rite)..told him that I bought a used local Polaris 600 sportsman..have a good day...moral of the story is allways ask what the OUT OF THE DOOR PRICE IS !!!!Hope this ditty helps some one...Sid
