insulating portion of walk-out basement
I have to finish off the bare concrete walls in my basement. The walk-out is 2x6framed and insulated with 1" icynene foam and blowed-in fiberglass combo. What is the best method to insulate the back concrete walls? Should I frame it in with 2x4's and lay in 2" rigid foam-board? Should I have them blow fiberglass in between the studs? Or 2-3" of Icynene Foam (probably the most expensive)? And what about the unfinished storage spaces in the basement? Should I insulate those also? Or insulate between finished and unfinished walls?

I like the solid foam board because of the moisture issues from concrete sweating.
2X4 with 2" foam board sealed to the studs and open at the top would allow a air space for moisture and evaporation.

I agree with Harvey, but I used 2x3 metal studs so there would be no wood to soak up any moisture from the concrete.

How about spraying a skim coat of 1"-2" of foam right on the wall? The contractor will already be out there spraying the whole house and rim joist with a one inch skim coat, and I could have him spray the concrete walls, and them I could frame next to the foam. I think he charges around $0.40 per inch of foam per sq ft. This would be for the open cell foam. I know the closed cell foam would have a higher Rvalue, but costs quite a bit more. I already have 1" greenboard on the outside of these basement walls to help with condensation and give a little insulation.

I have a simular set up with a walkout basement, but used insulated concrete forms. I don't have any problems with condensation. The system I used have 2.5" of polystyrene on the outside and 2.5" on the inside. I have humid air but the ground temperature is near 60 F so less problems with cold migration through the concrete.
