GM 4WAY FLASHERS
On all of our previous GM vehicles, including our present '98 K3500, when you step on the brake with the 4way flashers on, they stop flashing. That always bugged me, especially when waiting for traffic while plowing. (Yes, I have a blinky light on the roof). Our '04 Dodge flashers continue to flash with the brake on, so I checked, and the present Chevys do too. I wonder if I could change the '98 to make them flash all the time. Any body good with electricity out there?

GM 4WAY FLASHERS
The new Chevys have a seperate turn signal light from brake light, so there is no conflict. I don't know about the Dodge, just a better design.

Maybe that's what Dodge does, too. I wonder how they combine the circuits into the trailer connector, because the 4way flashers make the trailer brake lights flash.

GM 4WAY FLASHERS
Most European and Japanese cars have separate systems for running lights and turn signals. You need a converter to wire it to the regular single bulb system for the trailers.
There is a difference between KISS engineering and cost engineering at the sake of all other aspects. To me GM stepped over the line years ago. You only have to run down the road an see a couple of year old GM vehicles with the lights out to know what I mean.

I understand what you mean about those separate systems. I remember seeing a proliferation of vehicles with amber rear turn signals in addition to the red brake lights, and seeing kits in the auto supply store for wiring into trailer connectors. I also agree with you about the late model GM vehicles with daytime running lights out on one side or the other. What an embarrassment - GM should be ashamed of itself. On our '98 the lowbeams came on as DTRs. I disabled that feature. I use the feature known as the headlight switch. But back to 4ways - it might be too difficult to change the system to always flash. (It's tempting, there must be a way.)
