I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 4wd automatice w/ 100,000, I had the tranny rebuilt at about 87K. But now when I am driving and you let up on the gas to slow up a little and then ease back down on the gas to regain speed it feels like you are driving on those grooves they put on the side of the highway. If you immediatly let up and then really give it some gas it is then fine( Until Next Time ) It only does it between 40 and 55 MPH and does it with the OD on or OFF. I took it to amcco twice and even though it had been out of warranty they looked at it, said they adjusted the valves and so forth, but it is still doing it. I hate to keep running it back up there and have them easter egging the problem. Anyone ever experience this or have any idea's?

My thoughts exactly! Did they change the torque converter when they did the tranny? They should have!

Honestly I don't know for sure. I guess I will call them and set up another appointment to drop it off and see what they say. Question is if I continue to drive it the way it is through the holidays ( To get to and from work, about 10 miles each way), am I risking more damage?

Well Yeah!, I know that. I also know the holidays are less then a week away and I am one of those that has to work on Christmas and need to get to work without leaving the wife home alone with a two year old and no vehicle in the event of an emergency. My question was " Would I be OK doing the Holiday travel or could it casue more serious trouble. I.E. I should look at a rental till I can get and appointment to get it fixed. I guess I should have been more clear. Mute point now anyway. Thanks for the feedback.

Well I got my truck back from the garage. They said they flushed the system. added new transmission fluid and Mopar limited slip fluid?? I was concerned, because that is what they said they did back in October and it didn't change a thing then, But I have had it back to a couple days and it seems that for the most part the problem is gone. It gave me a little noise when I first picked it up on the ride home, but has not done the same since. I am curious if this additive they put in just masked the problem. Kind of like putting belt dressing on to stop the noise. I guess only time will tell.

Hope that fixed your transmission for good but I would still keep a transmission fund handy for when or if it decides to crap out for good.

Unfortunatly for you I have to agree with Chief, as torque converters hold to much debris and it is very difficult to get it out! I do wish you luck and hope it is cured.
