Louisville Ky Farm Machinery Show
The farm machinery show starts tomorrow in Louisville at the Fair Grounds. I have never attended, but plan to spend most of Wednesday at the show. I have been told it takes a full day to see it, looking forward to seeing the big boy toys all in one place. I will give a report later in the week. Dave

Louisville Ky Farm Machinery Show
Dave; I've never been there either, but have a friend who never misses. He goes mainly for the tractor pull, I guess the grand daddy of all pulls is there. Seems like most of the majors, Case IH, Deere, Cat, etc. tend to concentrate on the Farm progress show and Louisville. The Iowa State Fair used to have a big display, but not much last time I was there. Have a good time. Frank.

Louisville Ky Farm Machinery Show
I made my first trip to the Louisville Farm Machinery show a couple of weeks ago. It's a large show which takes up the entire facility and included tractor pulls at night.
All of the big three had large floor exhibits. I believe the orange out did the green and blue. The toys ranges from the sub-compacts to the eight wheeled tractors in the 200 - 300hp range.
Also on display was every kind of implement you could think of and some you had never heard of, at least in my case.
Probably the most impressive was the MT700 Challenger by Cat. The tractor on display was model MT765 with 255 PTO HP. This isn't your normal wheeled tractor, it uses a traction belt similar to that on bulldozers, except it's rubber with ag tread. This tractor was equipped with "Auto-Guide" satellite navigation. The salesman said you could sit at home and operate the machine.
If you have never been to one of these shows, I would highly recommend it. Dave

Louisville Ky Farm Machinery Show
CaseIH has had something like what I think your talking about out for many years, its the STX Series SteigerŪ 4WD.
It is a totally awesome machine and unbelievably manuverble for the way it looks. When you actually see it operating in a field it is even more impressive. They definately have a nitch in the new wave of farming but it is also not for everyday use.

Louisville Ky Farm Machinery Show
I've driven a 9000 series Deere track machine similar to the Cat rubber track at a demo day. I haven't saw a lot of them localy for farm use, but the road construction people seem to be using them quite heavily, I think bcause they can be driven where a steel track would'nt be allowed, and track maitinence may be less for rubber? Frank.

I was told the track machines with a pull pan are more cost effective and versitle than a pan in a lot of instances, as well as more all terrain and less likely to get stuck.
