So a family of badgers moves in across the street

I'm serious. There had been gopher mounds and such the last couple of years across street from me. It's a hill that leads up to a farm field. I saw a big hole yesterday and something moving on top. I grab the binoculars and it's just mooning me. I'm thinking a big groundhog. Then it turns around and it's clearly a badger.

Now today, I saw them both there. So apparently baby badgers are in the plan for them. The main nest is maybe 20 feet off the road. I'm exactly across from them. Meaning 20 feet to the road, add the road and there's my mailbox.

Anyone have any experiences with badgers so close? I know it will tear my dogs a new butthole should the dogs attack. My one dog will attack if it sees it in our yard. So, I would appreciate anyone's experiences with these things.

I missed on getting a photo to post. Will be a delay as I go in tomorrow for our baby to be born. Double Yikes!!!

My opinion: Get the weapon of choice (12 gage) and make them disappear. These are dangerous animals that are very unpredictable and very aggressive (especially with cubs).

I had one take up residence in my back yard, 25 yards from my back door. The local DNR would NOT trap them or remove them, because they are "protected." I was told to "live with it" and not to even try an drive it off (bleach or moth balls in the den). I had no choice when it started to climb the stairs onto the deck on the back of the house.

***BE CAREFUL, PLEASE***

AV8R is right.

They are the meanest thing on the block, period.

Years ago my Dad & I were sitting in a deer stand early one morning. Off to in the distance, but close enough to make every hair on both of us stand up, we heard the most horrible sound. Thinking someone was being murdered we set out after the cause.

A short distance down the ravine we had been sitting above was deer carcass, likely a wounded runaway from another hunter. Standing over it was a large black bear, and 5 feet away was a badger, he wanted that deer and no bear was going to stop him.

Dad & I stood there absolutely speechless as we watched that little monster actually chase off this bear. The bear offered enough resistance to save his pride, but it was obvious this big fella knew better than to push his luck too far with this little intruder.

I wouldn't like the chances of ANY animal that crosses a badgers path.

There is only two options, hope they eat themselves out of the food supply, or die of 'lead poisoning'.

Best of luck.

Badgers! Badgers? We don't need no stinking Badgers!!!

Did you know that the "dachs" in dachshund means badger?

Those nasty little shits are bred to fit in a badger burrow and fight on them on their own turf. That is why they are built like a sawed off bulldog from the ribs forward.

The only thing nastier than a badger is his overgrown cousin the wolverine. Shoot them. You don't need no stinking badgers.
