Favorite Cars From the Past
1965 Mustang, the first car I ever bought. Now that I am a father of three, I think back on the stupid, crazy stuff I did with that car and think how I'll wring my kids’ necks if they even THINK about doing anything I did!
The car has been in storage in my parents’ barn for the last 10 years -- my wife knows it will be my mid-life crisis car, and now that I have more money, tools, and it does not have to be a daily driver, it will someday be better than ever!

I did'nt include an 82 Chevette that we bought in Texas simply because we needed a car to get home in and did'nt have time to shop. Bought it new from Don Ringler Chevrolet in Temple Tx., I've often wondered if they are still in business. It was not a favorite of mine simply because you felt like you were riding in a beer can straped to a roller skate. As it turned out we drove that thing over 200K and spent nearly nothing on it till the clutch went out. I gave it to a friend, he put a clutch in it and drove it for a while till she finally rolled over dead. Frank.

This is great! It opens a whole new listing for Dennis! My favorite from the past I sold in 72 and had since high school a 64 plymouth sport fury with the aluminum nose from a donor and a 496 with a torque flite behind it. Number two would be a 63 TR-3 Triumph which was a riot to drive! Number three would be a 74 plymouth sport satalite that I bought when I got home with a 400 and a four speed a real nice cruising car.

3. 1939 Chevy coupe. 413 Chrysler engine with two 4-barrels and pushbutton torqueflight transmission. What a beast! My friend still has it.

**************
What my Mom learned to drive.
Dad had a 39 6 cyl. stick shift 4 door sedan.3Rd.car I remember him having when I was a kid.
His first car that I remember when I was a kid was a 1931 Chevy sedan.
Second one was the 1933 Chevy Coupe. It was a medium green had a 6 cyl. motor and the gearshift was on the floor. It was the first car he could park at the house because prior to that there was no street or road going to the property. The road ended at the edge of a deep hollow. to get to the house you had to walk down into the 100 foot hollow then up the other side to the house.
I was fascinated by that car and would love to have one of them restored. It would be a real rarity. I have never seen another one of these 33 Chevys, while model a fords are a dime a dozen. Took half a day to make a 150 mile trip from here to Canton Ohio. That wasn't bad - what was bad was the time we made the trip in the freezing cold during the dead of winter with one of the door windows missing and no heater in the car. This is the car I ran over my cousins fingers with on one of those trips to Canton. Boy did I get it from dear old dad for that one.

My wifes parents had a 1966 Chevelle around the time we got married.

Favorite Cars From the Past
1) 1966 Chevy Pickup
2) 1969 Olds Cutlass
3) 1972 Buick Skylark
When I sold my first vehicle, my 1966 Chevy PU many years ago, I promised myself one day I would replace it. I started looking about 3 years ago and wanted one just exactly as mine was 30 years ago. I looked for 2 years and finally found it....but it was in Montgomery Alabama! I bought it and had it shipped to my home here in Olympia WA. I now enjoy going for weekend drives and remembering the old times! Please see my picture.

Favorite Cars From the Past
1) 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby. Turbo II, 5-sp, some engine and interior mods. Sweet car, very reliable, easy to work on , and 30 mpg if you stayed out of the turbo. Sold it to buy my compact NH tractor.
2) 1977 Plymouth Volare "Roadrunner". Was 100% stock and original when I bought it in about 1987; I installed a reworked 340 with the 284/484 cam; Holley, headers, etc. and 727 transmission. Ugly (Spitfire Orange) and ill-handling, but that 340 was magic. Abused it for two years until it cracked a head, sold it to a friend and bought a beater to finish out my college years.
3) 1989 Dodge Daytona C/S These cars are rare, I didn't know it at the time. They were stripped down Turbo I Daytonas; no plastic on the outside, no A/C available (although it could be dealer installed), 5-speed only. Loud, rough and fast. Sold it to buy a truck.

<<
Ibrown; That's a neat post.
1* 61 Chevy, Red, 348 tri power, 4 speed, all go no show.
2* 51 Ford Flathead V8, three on the tree.
3*49 Hudson Comodore 6, my first car, paid 50 bucks for it in 57 .
More good memories.
Frank.
===============
More memories
1*My 1960 Chevy Impala convertible had 1961 Chevy impala full wheel covers on it when I bought the car in 1962.
Three guys that I knew back then bought new 1960 Impala convertibles.
Gary Schaffer got a bright red one with a white top-His dad owned a standard oil service station. His dad Wayne later became one of our county commissioners and was one for many years there after. He recently passed away.
Darrell Marshall who graduated high school the year before I did bought a beautiful blue one with a white top. A few years later he purchased the local Olsdsmobile dealer ship operating it until a few years ago.
Alvie Thomas ( who bought the black one That I ended up buying off a used car lot in 1962 ) worked at the Mom and Pop gas station we called the stadium service station as it was right across the street from the foot ball stadium.
I loved these 3 convertibles and would have given anything to own one of them.
Little did I know The black one would be mine 2 short years later. Picked it up at the used car lot for $1900. What a steel.
>>It was a 3 speed on the column. Had a beautiful red and white interior.
348 engine with 3 carburetors and a racing Cam with dual exhaust.
Also had fender skirts and twin radio antennas on the rear fenders.
A real flashy car.
It was tricky getting those 3 Carbs synchronized so I always took it to Lee Batten a stock car builder and driver to get the Carbs adjusted and synchronized.
2*My uncle had 3 or 4 51 fords. One of them he bought new. The thing that set the 51 of from the 49 and 50 was the double bullet grill compared to the single bullet 49 and 50.
3*1950 Chevy 6 Cyl 4 door sedan, my first car, paid 250 bucks for it in 58 . Kept it till 1964 or 1965 .
