Okay, my computor problems stemmed from those damned pop-up adds. Gateway unofficially recomended downloading some software (free) from lavasoftusa.com. After doing this the pop-up issues are fixed (removed). Just thought i'd pass this on.

 computer problems

There is no end to these computer problems. I let things go until they are unrecoverable and then reload the operating system from scratch. It forces people to clean up their files also.

I have 4 computers hooked up in this house to high speed. My latest system is an IBM with Ultra Rapid restore so I can just replace an image from a week ago if I have trouble.

I am most recently enjoying videoconferencing with my daughter in college using Yahoo Instant Messenger. She can watch us eat good food while she is starving. My son has had warnings from Optimum online about too much downloading of music. The rest of the time he is busy road racing or fighting wars with other kids on the internet. I did break down and buy him a Dell.

Did I mention that I am an IBM employee? Any one want to buy a mainframe?

AV8R, you might want to download Spybot Search & Destroy to kill any adware or spyware on your computer. That stuff can really slow things down and cause problems too.

That is what I got from "lavasoft." It was amazing how much CRAP I had in there which was hidden and so on. I'm not a real computer guru, but I found this amazing!

Spybot Search and Destroy is pretty good, but I prefer Spyware Blaster.

Spyware Blaster actually prevents spyware from being installed whereas Spybot only finds and removes stuff after the fact when you run it.

I run them both in parallel and since installing Spyware Blaster I've not had Spybot S&D detect a single spyware item.
