 Skeet

I just picked up a little 28g Remington 1100 and thought I run some shells through it on the skeet field. Well, today was a tournament day at both of our local gun clubs..so after driving 100 miles..no shots fired. Anyway, I've shot 28's in skeet and find they do about as well as 12's. Very efficient. Any others out there with 28 experience?

Don't see how I missed this post. I have a Browning Citori Skeet 4 Barrel Set that I shoot skeet with. Haven't shot much lately. I prefer the 410 bore barrel. Has a bit of a challenge to it as compared to the 12 & 20 guage. I shoot the 28 guage as well. Even with the 12 guage, I shoot 3/4 oz. loads. I have to watch the recoil; got some medical issues that require it.

 Skeet

As a kid the first gun I was given was a 28. It was lighter and easier on the shoulder than a 12 would have been.

Our farm has extensive fence rows and tree lines and they are full of birds. As a youngster I often spent entire weekends walking the hedgerows with my Golden Retriever, I got a few good meals out of that gun.

I still take it with me as a 'second' when deer hunting since walking the fire roads often flushes a few birds.

It is getting a lot harder to find shells for it nowadays though.

Best of luck.

Murf..
Fortunately 28g ammo is plentiful here but more expensive than 12 & 20g since it isn't made in as large a quantity as the more popular gauges. I buy 10 box cases of 28's for about $45/case but 12 & 20g go for $35/case. That's lowbase #8 skeet loads. Highbase hunting loads double for the 28 but only increase about 30% for 12 & 20. Shows the demand factor. But, still, the 28 is my favorite and I score as well with it as I do with my 12 & 20. The 410 is another story.

Mike
