New Jeep
Well, I traded the 2007 Liberty for a 2008 Rubicon. I learned how to drive a stick on an old 49 Jeep and have owned several over the years, including two that I plowed with.
This new one is my daily driver, company car. I feel like a kid again, except that my knee hurts from clutching in traffic jams and reminds me of my true age
Any other Jeepers out there?

I'd join you -- except I imagine you don't consider owners of Grand Cherokees to be Jeepers!

I always wanted an old CJ or MB, but I never could figger out how to wedge myself into one.
Popular Mechanics just finished a long term test on a Rubicon.

I've never owned a Jeep but have my eye on a Wrangler Unlimited (4) door with (3) piece removable hardtop. A local dealer tricked a black one out with 4" lift, brush guards and special black wheels with 35" tires and some lights.
I drive by it about once a week, stop in and touch it. I'm having trouble parting with my money, but it sure looks good.
Hope you enjoy yours!

Owned a Cherokee myself, of course they count. It's those four letters that need to be on them to qualify
The Unlimited is a better match for most people YP and even DR could fit behind the wheel of the new models. I like the short wheelbase, only reason I did not go for the four door. You need to look at that hardtop on a rainy day, some of them leak either at the center and onto the dash or at the pillars near the top of the windshield and will trickle water into the foot well. Mine was just fixed. There always have been quirky things about the CJ/Wrangler and probably always will be.

I had two Comanches, a stock '71 Cj-5, '8X CJ-7 with a Holley 4-bbl on an I-6, header, 35" Super Swampers, 8K winch, spring-over conversion, 6" body lift, fiberglass body painted Corvette Red; and the last one was an '87 with New Holland yellow paint job of course, winch and Swampers. The last two 4x4's (Ram diesels) have never been off road---they seem to last muuuuch longer that way

The Liberty was/is produced with a diesel (Mercedes?) and if---and that's a BIG IF---Chrysler isn't sent to the gas chamber (pun intended) via GM sucking the life..er...dollars out of them, if memory serves there are plans to offer Dakotas and 1500 Rams with light-duty diesels. I read recently that they have been pushing that back due to higher diesel costs, but then again diesel is down to $3.69 down from nearly $5 just a few months ago.
I was doing some googling on bio-diesel and cam across a guy who put a Kabota 3-cylinder in a car with great success. Mileage was somewhere around 50-75.
To me that's a no-brainer---gov. regulations and testing aside.

Any time the government is involved things get screwed up. The Grand is offered with a diesel now but not in NYS since the red tape has halted it.
