Keeripes.
I have a 2008 CX and it has a strange lean fuel problem. About every other day I will be driving along (engine fully warm) and the engine starts to starve for fuel. I have to pull and monkey with the choke to keep it running. I try to get it to full throttle in neutral which it will eventually do and after a minute or two it will start to clear up and then run perfect for literally hours or days. What I really worry about is I often leave this with my 80 year old parents who love it also for its simplicity but it has to be dependable. Less than 100 hours, spark plug changed awhile back, fresh fuel. Water in the gas? It started to do this last winter as I use it to plow my neighbors driveways but its always covered or garaged when not in use. Still under warranty (I think) but intermittent problems are the worst to diagnose.

Thanks anyone.

Has it ever sat for a few months with the fuel left in it? Old gas can leave crystals behind in the fuel bowl that can mess things up. Debris in the tank sloshing around intermittently blocking the fuel pickup?

That could be- I last drove it Mid October 2008 and it sat until snow in the beginning of December when the problem started. I try to use fuel stabilizer but it may have had deteriorating gas as I do forget to add it. But with a fuel filter can the little gas in the bowl go bad to the point of carburetor plugging? Maybe I answered my own question.

Two months is a pretty short time for the fuel to crystalize so that seems unlikely. Still, if it's easy to pull the fuel bowl it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look. On some small engines you could do this in about one minute but not sure about yours.

Huh, Tried Amsoils gas additive- octane boost and additives (which I keep around for my older snowmobile) and the problems solved! I do use good quality gas but I've heard that these late model carbureted engines run lean for emmisions so maybe they're just plain fussy sometimes about the gas you use. Maybe I'll try a different brand of gas or just keep adding the gas additive.

Thanks for posting your solution. I've never read a study on the effects of ethanol on small engines but it's probably not good. If they are selling E-10 for gasoline in your area that may be part of the problem.
