Knocking Noise Under The Bed
Hi,
I have been given the usage of a Gator with 4 rear tires. I has a knocking in the drive line when under power.
Sorry I don't know the year but will get it soon.
It's at least 4-5 years old, a gas v-twin Kaw, does not have front wheel drive, has a locking lever for the rear tires. Has not been maintained well. Drive ok but for the noise.
It's a pretty loud erratic popping/knocking that comes and goes but mostly comes.
I found one of two extension springs that are down low behind the seats disconnected and reconnected it and it seemed to reduce but returned. The may be involved in the break lever?
Any suggestions on what to check would be great.

It's drive chains. You may be able to save them by soaking and using chain lube, but probably not.

Thanks,
I oiled them and she is quiet. I'll work on getting new ones.

I need to correct my OP. It does have front wheel drive.
Where do I find an ID plate so I can get the year model and find out how many links are in the chains?

You mean front rear wheel drive. If you have a front wheel drive six wheeler, you have the only one. Serial number is etched in the top frame rail under the passenger seat. Chain is #50 roller with 112 cog spaces. Tractor Supply has the chain.

Thanks! The cog space number helps big time. We have bulk chain in my shop. I'll make them up.
