  6X4 diesel gator engine shakes

I have a gator with a yanmar diesel engine. Recently it has begun to shake like crazy while it runs. No power. Any ideas?

I'd assume one of the cylinders isn't firing, maybe a bad injector.

Plugged fuel filter or water in the system.

Check your air filter as well...if it isn't getting enough air it will struggle.

If it isn't fuel or air then its probably more serious....Does it seem like its got a miss in it or the timing is off?

How do you check the injectors? Or do you just replace them all? I bought this Gator about 4 months ago. It never seem to run real smooth. But OK. It has been just a few days that it starting the shake. I haven't been running it thinking I may cause more damage.

Well if it hasn't ran in some time then it could be that the fuel is just stale...you might try either burning it out and adding a treatment when you fill it up next or just dump the tank and start over with some new fuel.

Generally you do replace all the injectors together however if you don't want to go through that expense you can try to figure out which one is giving you the trouble. I did this and simply used an Ohm meter and found the one injector that was ohming differently than the others and replaced it...that fixed the problem, granted it was on a car its the same principle.

It was the clutch that was causing the shaking. the one roller assembly came loose. The nylon stop nuts weakened and came off allowing it to come apart. Thanks

jdunphy- Its been a while since I have been here but I was going to sugggest the clutch. (Sorry I was late) I had a 6 wheeler that had the same problem- it actually ripped the engine off the mounts.
