Need help with xuv 620i diff lock problems
Hi all I am new to the site but i have done alot of reading here and there seems to be alot of good info to be found, So I am hopeing someone can help me. The problem I am haveing is when I lock the rear diff i get a poping noise thats pretty loud and is worse when i turn the wheels left or right if I am going straight there is no poping sound. Fluid is good in the rear end and the only thing that i have done to the rear end is to replace the left hand side cv boot at the trans. When I did this I removed the female end of the cv assemble that goes into the trans because at the time I did not see the ring clip that held the cv assemble together. I got the boot replaced and reassembled everything back together the way it came out. Did I test the diff lock then? no and everything seemed fine until the other day I had to use the diff lock and that was when i noticed the loud binding/poping sound. I did drain the oil in the rear end to see if there was any metal in it and there was none, so I am at a loss and I really hope someone can help me out on this one. Oh the gator is a xuv 620i and it is out of warranty.

What you need is a copy of Solution number 80958 dated may 19, 2009.from deeretac that deals with your problem, It's probably your cv joint. I assume your dealer can obtain that publication.

Is there any other way to obtain the solution number 80958 as I do not deal with the dealer that i purchased the gator from any more. The next clostest dealer is about 50 miles away. As for the cv joint I have both of them out right now and there does not seem to be anything wrong with them except for minor wear. I think I have something going on inside of the trans. Oh and thanks for the reply.

i'm interested in how the cv comes apart - my cv boot on
the drive shaft going to the frontend is split and i need to
replace it - the boot is at the first joint forward from the transfer case

I too have to replace the CV Boots on our Gator XUV 260i...
How in the world do you get the thing off.
