 HPX Electical Issue 2005 Trail

2005 HPX Trail Gator w/ Plow System Problem:
(This is a new updated thread bc the wrong info was provided in the first one.)

The Gator was jump started from an SUV the incorrect way and (positive to positive and negative to negative straight connects).
A following explosion of sorts came from the fuse panel and melted some fuses and damaged others.
The fuses were replaced w/ other fuses(which I am assuming were incorrect) and it was driven about a mile away.
After the initial jump the plow height switch was used and the machine immediately died out.
The Gator was jumped again the incorrect way and started.
On the mile long trip the plow switch was used but the engine would die out so it's use was discontinued.
At it destination the machine was shut off and from that point on would not start.
The proper fuses were put in place and jumps/boosts were attempted the correct way per the manual. A new battery was also placed in the machine.
However the machine still fails to run. It will try to start itself but again will not run.
Thanks so much again to GatorRaider for the help thus far. He had suggested it could be the ignition module (~$300) and it still might be but I wanted to get this out there w/ the correct data for those who might encounter a similar problem in the future and need a fix.

There is a connection between the front lift and the ignition module, they both get their power from number 6 fuse. As I said in a previous post the ignition module is at the right rear of the motor. The plug into the module has an orange wire in it. That wire has to be hot in the run position for the motor to start. Something must be shorted to kill the motor with the lift switch. When you are hitting the lift switch you are probably grounding the orange wire and killing the motor. So if the orange wire is not hot with the key on your module may be OK and you just have to find out why it isn't hot. But if it is hot, the module is probably bad.

Raider,

Thank you again. You were precisely correct.

Here is my summary of the event (thanks to you):

The initial incorrect boost/jump caused a voltage spike and along w/ the wrong fuses and poor connections caused severe arching which in turn burnt out the Ignition Module (AM132577).

Solution:

1) Replaced and fixed fuse panel w/ ATO style in-line fuse holders.
2) Replaced Spark Plugs (to be on the safe side)
3) Replaced the Ignition Module

Result:

The HPX Trail is running like new.

(On a side note I would have purchased the Ignition Module from you however due to time/schedule constraints and more freaking snow we got one locally. I will in the future be getting my all JD parts from you if you have them. I owe you one. Thank you again. Lastly, do you have an OEM HPX fuse panel or a ROPS system? Our does not have one.)

Glad we could get you up and running, especially since it snowed again and snow plows aren't much good sitting still. I appreciate your parts offer, but since we are in a discussion forum may I suggest Googling " gator parts " and read thru the first couple pages, there may be a site of interest to you there. All the best to you.
