No, I don't have a transmission, but just wondered what happens that ruins them.
I have heard of other CX's having the same problem.
I've never had a CX, but have had almost every other Gator except the CX and the electric model, and so far not had any transmission problems with any of them.
Just curious.
Frank.

Frank:

I had bought it used about a year ago. I did notice it was a little harder to get into gear over time. What caused it to go? I think the rpms were a little too high when I slipped it into gear.

I've had a CX for a couple of years and it's easy to get impatient about letting the engine return to idle before shifting- especially snow plowing where you do a lot of F-R. The idle can creep up also and must be set properly to avoid grinding. Previous owner might have been careless or assumed some gear grinding was normal.

Maybe it can be repaired as I'm sure Deere would want a small fortune for a new one.

Good luck.

Yes, the John Deere dealer quoted me $3070 for a new transmission and both axles. I bought machine last year because I had to haul quite a bit of fill to fill a hole in my backyard with a narrow opening. I got the job done in a couple of days. Since then used it very little. got any other ideas on how to repair it?

I think you probably have to get on the phone and internet and see if there's someone nearby you that will take it on. For instance I work in Warrenville IL (Northern IL)and last week I saw a 6 wheel gator being worked on by the local auto mechanic. But transmission work, I don't know.

If I remember right the CX has a transaxle- probably why the unit is so expensive even by Deere standards.

Yes, still need one. do you have a good used transaxle for a 2005 CX? I see you live in Florida. What would it cost to ship it to Normal, Illinois 61761.
