CX Gator Engine quits after short ride

My 2008 cx gator starts fine but will sometimes quit after 5 to 10 minutes driving usually after the first start of the day. The symtoms are it will start to lose power then quit. Some times you can choke it a little and keep the engine running but it still takes a while to get enough engine power back to actually start moving again. The john deere dealer was worthless on fixing this. You can actually be running at full speed when this will occur. Once this happens it usually will not reoccur that day.

CX Gator Engine quits after short ride

Could be fuel pump. I've had them act like that. Not too sturdy anymore............

CX Gator Engine quits after short ride

Fuel Pump alright. My CX did that exactly- would run perfect the whole rest of the day sometimes. The pumps seem to last about a year or so. It will gradually get worse. Fortunately it's a cheap part- you can buy a rebuild kit or a new pump, after market. 2 bolts and 2 hose connections to install. First time it went I bought a new pump and then I bought the rebuild for the old pump so I have a back up- they're that bad.
