You need to have the red wire hot going into the ignition switch. If that is hot, the transaxle has to be in neutral to activate the neutral safety switch. You can run a jumper wire across the plug going to the switch and try it. Purple wire out of the safety switch goes to the starter solenoid. That purple wire should be hot when the ign switch goes to start.

Thanks: We will give that a try tonight! This Gartor has had some problems in the past because there isn't a fuse box anywhere. And we found 4 wires that dont have a home!Smile

Gatorraider is the pro but I was washing our Gator yesterday and notice a small box inside the engine compartment on the right frame. It looked like a junction or fuse box. Did not look that careful at it.

Is it an older model - i.e. earlier than 2005? If so the Tech Manual you need is TM1518, and somewhere in this forum is a link to download it. The earlier model had a number of red wires with fusible links on them (at the battery end of the main wiring harness). You will have some spare wires (yellow and black?) if you don't have the electric lifter installed.
Apart from all that - except for one direct connection from the battery to the radiator fan, pretty much everything else goes through the key switch (even the high-current stuff like the horn and lights).

Not sure what year but its an older model! Havent had time to mess with it much this week! I will see if I can find the TM for it! We have looked in every corner no fuse box on this Gator! Looks like the wiring has been workrd on in the past! Going to check with the old owner and see if he has had the same problem in the past.

Thanks for your help.

Oh yeah! Do you think it could be just a bad Ignition Switch ?

Maybe, but it's probably more likely to be dirty connections. I recently restored a Gator that had been sitting in somebody's shed for several years since the engine blew, and the electrics were a mess - dirty or corroded contacts all over, and the fusible links were corroded away completely. Your first step will be to to see if you have 12 volts getting to the switch.

If the red wire is not hot, any suggestions then?
