Having problem with gator xuv 620i overheating. radiator is full as is overflow bottle. fan turns on and overheat light illuminates. No rough condition and no 'heavy hauling etc. XUV has 70 hours and I already have had dealer relpace a frozen brake, etc. Cansomeone assist.Do not desire to take to dealer again and be 'hosed'.

 Cooling problem

If the coolant is plain water (as opposed to the right antifreeze mixture) that could explain it.

Bobby;
Seems like you have all the basics covered. Does the fan seem to cycle in a normal pattern? If the enginre were truly overhrated it seems the fan would run lots more than normal.
Does the engine show by a hot smell or other evidence that it is really overheated? I'm wondereng if your warning light is malfunctioning. I don't have a tech manual for the XUV but perhaps someone who does could tell you how to troubleshoot the warning light.
I've always thought that the radiator hoses and the radiator core held far too much coolant in comparision to the volume of the engine block for such a small engine????
Frank.

Is the top hose hot? That would tell you the thermostat is working if top hose is hot. Is a hose pinched or collapsed?
Starting with a cld engine let it warm up with the radiator cap off to see if you have circulation.
Frank.

 Cooling problem

Believe this machine has tendency to have air blockage in the cooling system if not bleed properly. Not 100% sure but think if you do some searching here you will find other post on this same issue.

You were asked if there was some indication of it over heating than the gauge and I don't notice a reply there. I had an engine that played with me on the problem and it turned out the sending unit was defective.

Replaced thermostat ($27.00 at John Deere !!) and radiator cap ($4.00 same location). So far no problems but only driven in Cool/COLD weather.
