 1994 4x2 electrical issues

Hi all,
First post, and first ever experience with any John Deere product.

So here is the scenario... runs great, same issues as many others, grinding gears, shuts off after it gets hot. All those things I have read the other posts and can probably figure it out. My issue is the dash electrics.

I get power to the ignition switch, to my fuse block and even to the cigarette lighter plug. I can start the engine and everything runs well. But no lights on the dash (bulbs are fine and fuses are not blown) and no headlights (bulbs are also fine and fuses i good shape) Used my volt meter and there is no power coming to the lights or the switch. And I tested the switch for continuity and it seems fine... i even sanded all the connectors to remove any crap that was on them. Any ideas where i can get my hands on a wiring diagram for 1994 4x2 gator?

On a side note, just because I have seen many questions about how to make a electric dumping bed system that does not cost an arm and a leg. I am building a new dump bed with parts from princess auto because i just can’t bring myself to pay 1200$ for an electric worm gear type system. the Hydraulic system I’m am installing will be able to lift more weight than the gator can handle. I will post some photos of my new bed and dumping system. Thanks again for your help with the electrics problem Smile

Robert

Your dash light power source is different for each light, so I don't think it's power, I think it's ground since both dash lights and head lights get their ground from the same place. But check the yellow wire coming out of the ign switch first for voltage when the switch is on, if you don't have voltage the switch is bad or the contacts are bad. If you do have voltage the easiest thing to do is ground either black wire coming out of either dash light and try it. If the dash lights work and the head lights don't there is a plug connection in the headlight harness that transfers that ground to the headlights. You can get a manual at your dealer for around 130.00 I think. pn TM1518 Since you are a first time Gator owner,I'm assuming you know you have to activate the emergency brake and the diff lock lever to turn the lights on. I'm not trying to be smart, just trying help you out.
