How long has it been since it ran? Ethanol gas today really doesn't last much more than a month or two without adding stabilizer, and even stabilized it goes bad much faster than the real gasoline we used to be allowed to buy. The symptoms are exactly as you describe.

If that doesn't work it's probably the ignition module, around 350.00

425.00 for a carb. You say you have spark. Are the plugs wet after trying to start it for a time? If the plugs are wet and you have spark and it won't start it's the ignition module. If the plugs aren't wet it could be the shutoff solenoid at the bottom of the carb bowl or the wire going to it. Make sure that wire is hot when the key is in the run position and plugged into the solenoid when you try to start it. I doubt you need a new carb..

Thanks fo your response.
I have checked about everything. It starts with great difficulty, idles well but under full speed it will die. I can get it to respond by choking it.
I have the carb disassembled and will reassemble it tomorrow.
It acts like crud in the carb but I found nothing. I will let you know. Many thanks.
PS - In the beginning it would not run at all so I think I am making progress.

I took apart the carburetor and totally cleaned everything and I think that was the problem as I started it and it seems to be running A-okay. Thank you everybody. Vern
