John Deere E Gator electric does not engage
I have a JD E Gator that has a problem with running. Most of the time when you press the accelerator pedal all you get is a clicking sound whitch is the motor relay it will click three times for each time the accelerator is pressed.
I have the technical manual and check all switches and volt setting with no luck. This is a 48 volt unit. Sometime it will run just fine. I do not know if the problem is in the motor controller or not. I have check the input and output voltage and not found any prooblems.

John Deere E Gator electric does not engage
Hello;
Welcome to the group, we try to help, sometimes it is a bit beyond us, but we'll always try.
We've had several Gators but never an elecrtric. What sort of a battery setup do they have? Are there several cables and connections that could be old enough to have corrosion creeping in giving you bad nconnections?
Frank.

Thank you for your help.
The battery setup is not ideal, it is four 12 volts hd depth cycle batteries. They have some age on them, but seem to be working fine they will hold a good charge. The battery setup should be eight 6 volts batteries. I got this gator used several months ago. When the gator runs it seems fairly strong.
About the cables and connections I have check and replaced some of them. I would like to get a better feeling about it before I drop 1,200 to 1,400 dollars on new batteries and cables. I would like to rule out the motor controller. I do appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks
Michael W.

John Deere E Gator electric does not engage
Hello, did you find out what was the problem or is it still doing it ?
My machine is doing the exact same thing. At first i taught it was doing it because the electric motor was hot, but no, know it's doing it even with the motor cold. Does anyone have an answer to this issue ?
You can email your answer to jackwilly88 at hotmail dot com
thank you

Finally found and fixed the issue. Motor controller was bad. Something internally. Was getting fault code 5,3 checked all the switches, batteries, etc. I did all the procedures explained in the tech manual. At the end bought the motor controller kit switch includes new harness, battery gauge, relay etc. installation took me about 4-5 hours and now the gator runs awesome.
