The two halves of the 2nd Clutch have pins that hold it together. Mine fell apart after about 250 hrs, but I do a fair bit of snow plowing and pulling stumps and other heavy debris. The only fix is to buy a new 2nd clutch - which you need a special clutch tool from JD or have them do the swap.

I think you are referring to the clutch buttons which can be replaced very easily. If the large metal discs are the ones rattling, you need a new clutch. If the plastic clutch buttons are worn that is an easy fix.

Can you determine what is rattling? Put the bed up and manually rev the engine - in Neutral of course. see if you can diagnose what is rattling. Then with the bed up, get in the cab and put it in Drive. Drive slowly and look back if you can see/hear what is going on back there.
