Hello,
I am interested in rebuilding the primary clutch on a 2004 HPX Gator. Can anyone advise on how to do it and where to get the parts.
Thanks

I just finished rebuilding mine using drill bushings, with a bronze bushing pressed in. Had to bore the bronze bushings for the pin size. Worked for me.

The process explained in the link above helped me tremendously. I purchased Drill bushings from Carr-Lane company. These are hardened bushings. I also purchased 3/8x7/16 oilite bronze bushings. Pressed them into the bushings and bored ID. to size. I had a 4 roller clutch and these worked just fine for me.

What size drill bushings (idXod) did you order , and have you any issues with the Gator potting out of forward gear under small load if so what's the fix.

I used 4 P-48-12 bushings. Specified a 7/16 dia. for the inside bushing bore. These are standard drill bushings fully hardened. I then ordered 4 7/16 inch OD. x 3/8 inch ID. pressure theated bronze bushings. Pressed them into the bushings and bored the ID. to final size. The part number specs out the OD. and Length. You supply the ID. that you want. These are every day standard bushings you can order threw McMaster Carr or any tooling company. Bronze bushings thru your bearing supply house.
As for the gator jumping out of gear, I just finished repairing mine. Sorry to say I had to go to ebay and buy my gears thru them and it was $584.00 if I rember right. I also bought the chain inside along with a new shifting block. The gear for the forward motion and the slider gear were both rounded off. Worked fine as long as you held it in gear, but put a load on it and it didn't like it to much. Three gears and two bearings is what you get. Hope this helps.

When you took the primary clutch off and remove the spider is the spider screwed on or pressed on the clutch

vaughn45 - Thanks for the specifics on the roller components. I'll add it to my ever-growing list of notations.
Snooks - As I recall, the spider was attached by three screws. It definitely wasn't pressed on.
