There is a product (the name escapes me but you should be able to do a search on Google and find it) that is supposed to repel snakes. You just sprinkle it around and have to replace it after a heavy rain. If that doesn't work a hoe is a more permanent solution.

First if I may say so, that Black Snake (HARMLESS)is doing more good for her Garden than she ever could!!
If that still doesn't warm her up, I can tell you that most snakes taste just like chicken!! (And yes I do know that first hand, not neccessarily by choice)

My best regards to both of you!
Dean

If you don't want to kill the snake, take a stiff tine garden rake and, from behind the snake, press the tines down over the body just behind the head (between the tines of course). It's alot more comfortable approaching when they are thus immobilized. Now you simply place a gunny sack over the tail and scoop it up in one fell motion as you lift the rake. Now you can haul the bagged critter so far away it'll forget where that nice rock was, and find another.

Archdean:
Sounds like another guy that got a 12-18 month government sponsored tour to the tropical jungle and got a chance to dine on the natural food chain.

I tried to tell her that it would taste like chicken nuggets, but she's not interested. I really dont want to resort to anti-snake warfare,Id rather just find a way to convince it to leave !

There are two viable choices. Catch and relocate or whack it with a shovel.

how to get rid of a snake

Send it my way. Ive got moles real bad this year and Ive found that a few black snakes will take care of them. Amazingly, Ive convinced my wife of this and she doesnt have a problem with the couple of snakes Ive imported.
