Development of tractor Data Sheets
We are working on tractor data sheets to include on Tractor Point. We have made up some drafts which are much like current manufactures data, but we do not want to miss anything that may be important.
If you could list the 10 most important data, considered when you bought your tractor, hopefully we can add the most common considerations. What you considered and what you consider now.
For example: (with out the explainations)
1) Over all height - I have low limbs and a low barn
2) PTO HP - I need to mow my field and need about 30 HP
3) 3 pt lift cap. - I need to move the odd round bale
4) 4 wheel drive - necessary for FEL
5) FEL lift capacity - stacking bales
6) Independent PTO - much easier operation mowing
7) Weight - needs some mass for large field mower
8) Wet Brakes - have problems keeping dry working on 2 previous tractors.
9) Engine manufacture - need to know what I am working on
10) GPM hydraulic main pump - have had tractors with low capacity
This takes some time but hopefully we can save our selves some time and leg work when we need a new tractor.

When I was shopping I used a spreadsheet to compare tractors. Here are the top 10 most important items from my spreadsheet
1. Long-term parts availability
2. Quality and proximity of dealer
3. 4WD for loader
4. PTO Horsepower for rotary cutting
5. Loader lift capacity
6. Loader lift height for dumping into truck/trailer
7. 3ph lift capacity
8. Hydraulic capacity
9. Ground clearance for driving over rough ground
10. Turning radius for maneuvering between trees

Transmissions and other options such as mid-pto; special features eg. SS and maybe some a free form note to catch things like pto speed and rotation.
I agree that assessment stuff is what a lot of people want to see. It's probably best to keep that as a part of general board chatter. Making it a part of official content would have a burden of maintaining accuracy, and disclaimers may not be adequate defense against an aggrieved manufacturer.

We are trying to obtain data only from manufactures info, no scond party. If they want to argue we have had copies of their data.
Even JDs comparison sheets have miss information, I have seen a bunch of errors on their comparison sheets. Not intentional as I see no evidence of building up specs, but there anyway.
We are trying to gear the sheets to the user (us) rather than advertisement. Many of us have looked through reams of data trying to determine the best machine to suit our needs. We are trying to simplify the process and provide us a better base of information that we can use to help posters (even if we are not in the need of a new tractor). I like most have a some what less than pure movtive for getting the process started as I am lookin for a 35 hp tractor. Naturally the first sheet will be 35 hp.
