Absolutely they did, and if you recall, the reasoning was that he would split the party, making his defeat much easier than a straight conservative. Also predicted was the media turning on him after his win, which they have.

I think there is a considerable difference between the candidates. I agree that what they say is all just a chess match to get the voters. That will all change when they get in office. But the off-the-cuff unplanned remarks and personal backgrounds is what tells you what decisions they will make in office. And do you want a congress that can actually pass laws next term or have a check and balance? On this last question I have not decided which is better.

However I made my choice of candidates long ago. There is no proof of character stronger than a person who will not leave his buddies behind, even while being tortured. If McCain had his young face again he would win hands-down.

Crunch,

When Congress is in session, every man's property is at risk.

The best we can hope for is a divided Congress, in which nothing gets done. A "do-nothing" Congress is every man's best hope.

Joel

I generally don't do a cut and paste but this e-mail I received is rather to the point.

The Haircut

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he
asks about his bill and the barber replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The florist is pleased and leaves the shop.

When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a
'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his
bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop is happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a 'thank
you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when
he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The professor is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank
you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your
Business' and 'Becoming More Successful.'

Then, a Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between
the citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.

Vote carefully this year.

McCain's action in Vietnam shows more than most will ever appreciate.

Yep, in the race for integrity, there is one clear winner. Unfortunately, the public is more concerned in a Hollywood type of manure delivery.

 Elections on Nov 4th

I have agonized over this for several weeks. I have voted Republican staight down the line for over 30 years and NEVER missed voting in an election.

Results?.......our nation is flooded with nearly 30 million crimal aliens, ridiculous high taxes, ridiculous draconian gun control, a GESTAPO like federal government growing like a cancerous tumor show casing the Dept. of Homeland Security, a police state rife with corruption and misconduct unmatched in US history.

The Republican Party with the exception of ONE man is dead. The ONE TRUE Republican left is Ron Paul and the socialist NEOCONS running the Republican party drown him out.

Is Obama a LOT worse???? You bet he is. The 2 party system has dished out to us a Marxist in Obama and a socialist in McCain.

It is just NOT in me to hold my nose and vote Republican again. My consciense and character just cannot stomach this. Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is STILL evil. Obama will take this nation straight to hell.......and McCain will get us there a little slower.

Ron Paul was my guy for president. Dr. Paul has endorsed Chuck Baldwin. Baldwin stands about the same chance of success as a sparrow fart in an typhoon. Chuck Baldwin got my vote. I threw my vote away you say??????? No.......voting for a candidate you loathe and have almost nothing in common with is throwing your vote away.

Until "WE" as a nation take responsibility for our actions and vote in that sense instead of the standard party line.........we will continue to get more of the SAME.

I fear the great experiment in liberty and freedom is over and dead. In any case get out there and vote. If you don't like Baldwin, Bob Barr is running on the Libertarian ticket.

If you ever thought you might want to by some ammunition or a gun......better by it now while you can.

Here is what the socialist NEOCON's aka Republicans are working on even BEFORE the election is over.

The sponsor and all the co-sponsors are REPUBLICAN (at least in name only)

Since NY has that same chance in a hurricane of not going for the Marxist, I voted for Barr. I changed my mind twice when I was in the booth since it really makes no difference here. If I recall correctly, the last time NY went with a republican, it was Reagan.

On your other point. Based on the fact that the republican conservatives, like the ones that fought to lift the offshore drilling ban, have a cold chance in ever getting a bill through committee, this gun control sponsored by the "name only" republicans will be like candy for the democrats. They will push it through at lightning speed since they have someone to blame it on other than themselves.

I agree, the free country is gone.
