Effective immediately to use the Tractorpoint Private Mail System you either have to be a "Tractorpoint Contributor (Premium Member)" or be a "Verified Tractorpoint Member".

The Verified Member process is:

-no anonymous email accounts (AOL, Hotmail,Yahoo,Gmail...etc) can be used for a verified email address
-you must send a verification request message to the Tractorpoint Operator with your userid
-we will send a verification message to the email address you supply
-the verification process takes a minimum of 2 weeks

Or if immediate Private Mail access is desired a new member can purchase a Premium TP Contributor Membership.

Dennis

The results might have been explosive!! Smile

Seriously, as my grandfather taught me as a little tyke "The only people who don't make mistakes are people who do NOTHING.".

You don't strike me as that type at all..... Smile

Best of luck.

Stick around Frank. Even folks who do this for a living can have a hard time telling legit email from spam. If the "from" address (legitimate_user@jplan.com) is valid and it came from Dennis' web site there's no mail filter in the world that can catch all the spam without also deleting legitimate email. That's the problem with anonymity. IMO, the anonymity of the internet has caused so many problems that I'm becoming an advocate for a more secure internet (new technology) that disallows anonymity entirely. It's a shame that it's come to that.

Enterprising SPAMMERS are getting more creative and are attempting to subvert legitimate sites like Tractorpoint by cloaking their activities within valid businesses like Tractorpoint. The SPAMMER uses my site and my mail domain jplan to send the email from my server as a valid Tractorpoint member. They even automate the process. That is why you often see the script letters and number images on so many sites so you cannot spoof being a person. Because I am the company that sent the email the risk to me is that my mail server gets ID'd as a SPAM server. The Tractorpoint Private Message members received from tractorpoint@jplan.com was sent from the jplan.com site as a valid Private Message from a new Tractorpoint member (now deleted by me).The content was crap because the new member was unethical, if you see it is from the jplan domain it is from the Tractorpoint mail server and is a valid email though the content could be bogus. Please delete the message and alert me if you have received such a message so that I can take action. Please don't if at all possible makr it as spam.Marking one message as spam should not be a problem as long as you continue to receive Tractorpoint alerts. If you stop receiving alerts and other Tractorpoint mail let me know and I can work on getting the SPAMblock removed.Unfortunately mail server spam blocks are across the board, that is if jplan gets blocked by AOL then all AOL accounts won't get email. So anyone who receives one of these Tractorpoint Private messages please just delete it and let me handle it on my end.Do not report it as SPAM.If you are afraid that new people will join Tractorpoint and send you SPAM messages just turn off the Private Message feature in your profile instead.Meanwhile I will work on a solution.Appreciate your patience and cooperation.Dennis

Hardwood,

I can see from the responses of the other TP members, that my message was poorly worded and missconstrued as if you did something wrong. I have reworded that message which takes your name out of it, you were a victim as we all were. Hopefully the new message is more clear that this is an internet issue as Ken pointed out. I have taken steps to minimize our exposure to the Lilian1 spammers.

Please accept my humble apology !

Dennis

Dennis; No aplogy needed, I just need to be a lot more alert as to what I do with all these neat buttons I can push. I've always enjoyed the fellowship we have here and would truly miss not being a part of the discussions. I'll admit I overreacted too, so I hope we are back on good terms for the long haul. I'll always disagree somewhat with EW of course just to keep him stirred up a bit. Frank.
