 3 pt lift problem

My SHibaura SP1540 3 pt lift has stopped working. I was plowing snow and the lift would not work all of a sudden. I have checked the electric from the toggle switch for 3 pt. and it seems to be ok. Wondered if anyone has ever had a chance to change the solenoid or whatever that is on the right side of the rear end right below the seat. This tractor is similar to the Ford 15/18 hp tractors. What options do I need to test to solve the puzzle?

Have you checked the lower rate valve (normally a small valve located right under the seat between your legs) to see if the adjustment knob has inadvertently been turned all the way shut? It would make it appear to have stopped functioning as it would cause the 3 pt. hitch to remain in the full lift position.

It was already down when it stopped. Yes, I checked it and it was ok.
