I love my wife but
I am uncertain as to the logic for keeping the paper miles from use site. It is a bit like having the barn for the tractor at the other end of the property a half mile from the house.
I built a large closet in lower bathroom 4'x3' with full shelves, good sized vanity with larger lower drawer and she decides to store it in the hall closet. Please explain!! I am confused.

I too agree with the "Pack Rat" gene. My wife hates to throw things out. I suppose I'm guilty too but not nearly as bad. (You just can't throw out a good piece of wood or old work boots.) Also, she began doing artificial flower arrangements a few years ago. She does a very nice job but there's arrangements and materials all over the house. I had to put pull down steps into the attic to try to make some room. I have a two car garage with attached shop that was built two years ago. She had wanted to start putting them in there but I wouldn't go along with it, hence the attic stairway. We have enough canned goods here for about a year. If, however, WW III should start; all of you and your families are invited to my Mother-in-law's. She has enough canned goods to last quite some time. That's where the gene came from.

I read everyone's comments about the paper issue and I smiled. We operate on a two level paper distribution system in our house. The primary level is the main storage area in a closet in a spare room. Then we have the staging area which is a shelf in one bathroom and the vanity in the other. We don't always keep the staging area stocked, but it's at least 95% effective. Sometimes she doesn't restock the staging area and that's when there are problems. I'm usually the one doing the resupply. But at least she goes along with the staging area.

Have you ever noticed how they can put things away so they are not able to be found. I have accused her of hiding things from me, which draws the usual response, "if you put it away yourself"

Archeologists search for Pack Rat middens, which are thousands of years old to determine what the North American landscape was like in prehistoric times. These middens are the stuff that the rat collected and then forgot where they put it. See the connection, enough said.
I am sure when I am long dead someone will finally find the small bottle of Gorilla Glue I left on the counter and disappeared.

Peters, I have a bottle of Gorilla Glue here. You didn't happen to see the remote for a Genie garage door opener at your place did you?

I guess I'm lucky. Mine doesn't have the Pack Rat Gene. She would throw me away if I stood still long enough. She does how ever have the I can't stop long enough to buy fuel gene. She will ride on empty until the last possible minute for stopping to buy fuel. An then it's usually only 20 BUCKS.

I love my wife but
You know, 2 weeks ago, I would have agreed with you but.....
a week ago this past Friday, the 28th, my wife of 3 years died suddenly. One minute she was fine, the next she passed out. They said her main artery blocked off. They weren't able to revive her.
Right now, I'd love to be able to tell she could leave the door open whenever she wants or lay stuff where ever she wants but will never be able to do so again.
You never know what will happen in the next minute and if you can, go give her a big hug and tell her how much you love her while you still have the opportunity!
Sorry for going on - just miss my wife like crazy!!!

I'm sorry to hear that Mike. You're right; we never know from one moment to the next what's in store for us. Having had a heart attack while out running 4 years ago I know first hand exactly what you're talking about. Again, our condolences.
