I think these type of discussion boards are really great as long as those that comment provide beneficial information. What really upsets me are those individual who just provide "obvious information" and don't contribute anything new. Also, I get upset with those individuals who go off on a tangent from the original subject.

Sorry you feel that way.
And what was the inforamtion that was so obvious?
But the reality is we're here to have fun while sharing information, not the other way around. And that's the key word: sharing.
All of us who give a hoot have more interesting, more fun and simply better things to do than be just a source of information. If it's specific information you want then go pay $85 an hour at the dealer.
Until then----so did you hear the one about the Rabbi, the Preist and the...

I thought things were going pretty smooth compared to six months or so ago when we had a few posters who seemd to feel it was their duty to upset anyone by any means using personal, religous, ethnic, profanity, or other lifestyle comparisons. I'm glad that most of those whom were insulted by the self appointed rebel rousers came back to the form. Just like the billboard says about your teeth, "Ignore them and they will go away". I always have enjoyed a friendly discussion about most anything that I have enough knowledge on the subject to discuss, if I don't understand the subject, I just lay low till another one comes along. My most frequent "Sin" here is refering to Cars, pickups, tractors etc. shipped here from across the pond as "Rice burners", and yes I know my "Baby Deere", (4310) is powered by a Rice Burner. It is just a local slang term from here in the heart of baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and whatever domestic car you choose to drive land. I think EW and I are a good example of hardly ever agreeing on anything to start with then coming to a compromise before the subject is laid to rest. I'd even buy his, or any of you's supper just for a chance to visit a bit. Anyhow I'm sorry if you are upset by folks such as me who can tend to wander or over elaborate on a subject, I am who I am and that's how I'd like to stay. Frank.

The site has to be enjoyable or folks won't stick around. Information without commentary, anecdotes and experience isn't all that interesting.

Just think of this as the small town feed store with a potbellied wood stove with a mutt curled behind it, your own coffee cup hanging on a nail, a wood keg filled with peanuts in the shell, with a couple of old wooden chairs and several good ole boys passing time until the mail is sorted, just telling stories and giving some advice needed or not and rarely asked for.
You can join in with your own two cents or absent mindedly stare into the fire and enjoy their company. There might be a windbag, or maybe a know it all, but most have years of hard knock experiences and are worth listening to, but regardless, you will always come back the next morning, grab your cup and pull up a chair.
I know I do.

Franky. Franky. Franky. I still can't remember what we butted heads about. Fill me in, bro! Ouch! Daaaangit just backed into the virtual stove. Still got my coffee though!

Frank,
I'm one of them rice-burner owners you talk about. I have a Kubota. It runs on high octane rice, which has to be imported from Tokyo, and then be refined by Shell Oil.
But hey.....my tires are made by Goodyear......the rear ones anyway!
hehehe.

Tangents and obvious often are points of view. A couple of years ago a speaker went off on a tangent that proved to worth about $15,000 for a client of mine becaused I learned something that was not on the agenda. My client did not seem to mind about that tangent. Wonder how often we each have listened or read something such as here and thought nothing of it only in the future to pull from that for a then need.
I will use EW tangent on "I go in circles, well not really circles" that I read and laugh at and still do (hey if you can not chuckle at EW give up) but used it about 2 months later.
So much for my obvious tangent. kt

Yup, I'm with the crowd on this one, it's easy to skim over the funny or off-topic bits in the search for info, and who these days can say they've laughed too much lately?
Besides, I still go to that mill (most every Saturday morning) BVance is talking about, even though I'm only in my 40's I'm one of the 'old-timers', a badge of honour I earned by staying around and running the family farm in conjunction with my cousin, and making it grow & prosper to boot! I'm still "Murf's kid" but I even catch my Dad telling hired hands to "Go ask the old man." when they ask him something to clarify instructions I've given them.
He always smiles when he does it though.
Best of luck.

Retcol, if I follow your post to the letter and take your "advice" seriously the only response possible would have to be:
What is your question?
