 Benefit of Web Site

Individuals that patronize this type of site have a wealth of experience they have developed over the years. I want to benefit from that experience as it applies to my own operation. I try to post a specific question with hope of getting an answer to my question. What happens others read the question and don't necessarily have an answer but it triggers an idea to them. Instead of starting a new thread they go off mine and I don't get an answer to my original question.

EW; My your memory is bad for a youngster. Surely you remember the loft I built that you were sure would collapse? Well, it got built, in fact the square footage got doubled, to about 1,800 sq. ft. It's full to the rafters with the equivilant a bit over of two loaded semi's weight in lumber, close as I can figure about 200,000 lbs. of lumber total, plus whatever could be piled on top of the lumber. Then the Hydro to Gear challenge on the losder shuttle bet we had on the new Lexus. All in good fun tho, you pick a side and we'll argue.
Murf; Your Saturday morning group remeids me of the one I go to also on Saturday mornings. That's really the only time I go to coffee anywhere. We met at one of the group's kitchen table usually four to six or seven of us, from the eldest, 79, 75, 66 (Me), 62, fiftyish for the rest. Mostly farmers. We really don't gossip about anyone(HONEST), except politicians, they are fair game. Just mostly the crop, the weather, health concerns about a neighbor or friend of the group, etc. The discussion can get lively, Deere vs. CaseIH, Pioneer vs. Dekalb, etc. but like EW and I nobody ever went home mad. Frank.

Kenny: ---just keeping you honest now...

That's: "obvious information" and "off on a tangent."

Knock, knock...?

Retcol,

Thanks for clarifying your point, yes it can be very frustrating when you really need a succinct "how to" accomplish something, and instead your question gets derailed into a discussion of something unrelated or just chatter.

I now post the "subject" of the post on each message as a reminder of what question we are answering.

Hijacked threads undermine the value of TP content, but moderating hijacked threads can be frustrating as we try to balance the camaraderie of our TP family.

Maybe Retcol could point us to the threads he is frustrated with and the Moderators could look at them so we could see if any improvements could be made.

Dennis
