You never have seen everything

Google for heated toilet seats and you'll have lots of sites to select from. The problem about manufacturing these types of devices yourself are patents. You know how toilet seats always get grungy in the hinge area? I had an idea for a "quick release" toilet seat that you could easily detach and take to a sink to wash. Went to do a patent search on toilet seats and there are hundreds - including several on different quick release mechanisms for seats. Just think of all the brain power that goes into toilet technology. The mind boggles.

kt, that's a good one. Have a guest help out in the kitchen by emptying the dishwasher. Imagine their surprise when they find a toilet seat in the dishwasher! In our case we could use the mudroom sink, but who knows what others will do? The thing I don't understand is that manufacturers never seem to have made quick detach seats.

Murf, some Burger King's I know have that sort of design in the kitchens. After close they can hot-hose down the entire kitchen. Makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
