You never have seen everything
Well here I sit in Rogers AR in a new La Quinta and the white throne is rather warm. I check the seat, normal plastic. I check the bowl, normal porcelain. Well the tank is rather warm. I flush the commode and it gets warmer. Well, where did this guy get his ticket? How much does it cost to flush the toilet? How are you going to fix this?
I talked with the desk, Yes there are a few rooms with this problem. Well I thought I had seen everything in plumbing problems!!!!!

This is a common problem in Alaska. The ground water is soooo cooold that the toilet tanks are covered with condensation and drip all over the floor and grow mold if not attended to.
The answer is to use a blending valve between the hot and cold water lines to temper the water, but after a couple of years the cold side plugs up and you get a serious rump sauna.
If the water gets too hot it melts the wax ring at the base of the toilet and then you get a foot bath.
But somehow I don't think this is the issue in Arkansas.

AR the ground temperature is about 58. On the third floor it would warm in the building anyway.
In the north I have seen the toilet blankets and trays, but not the mixing valves. So I guess I was not far enough north. You never have seen everything.

Peters, what were you doing in NW ARK? Your being in that part of the country reminded me of my youthful days in SW MO which in turn reminded of sitting out in the old outhouse when the temp. was about 10 degrees out. I would have welcomed any kind of indoor plumbing in those days, hot or cold water in the stool. It used to get so cold in the bedroom that we would heat a brick up on top of the Warmmorning stove, wrap it a cloth and then put it bed with us to keep our feet warm. It makes me really appreciate the way we live today.

I did that same thing....... on purpose.
My loving wife used to complain because our en suite is a 12' x 12' second floor only addition, it forms a ceiling to part of the sunroom below. You can just see it as the white clad, brown roof that extends out to the left of the left dormer on my picture # 1. It has 120 sq. feet of window and is electrically heated only to 60° in the winter. A bath or shower quickly warms it, but a fast "throne session" doesn't.
So I put a flex line and valve from the bidet next to the throne to the water supply line, and a shut off on the cold.
When she wants a warm seat she just has to flip the two levers and give it pre-emptive flush and wait a few seconds.
It's amazing what a guy will do for peace and quiet huh?

Using a mix valve for the toilet was quite common around here to prevent tank sweating in the summer. After air conditioning became pretty much a standard you did'nt need them anymore. Frank.

I know I am missing a real financial opportunity here by sharing this thought and not going to manf myself...or I will get a reply yep they are out there...
Electric heated seats. Seems simple.
If you want a simple one with off the shelf items you should be able to get close with first getting a lid that fits agains the seat with no gap. Then place small heating pad on top of the lid with a cover (this will make it look good and give insulation value) over the lid to hold it in place. Find an old washing machine with the mercury switch that was mounted to the lid and wire it in so it only heats when closed.
Now, please don't rig this so we see it on a murder mystery show.
Living where 30 is cold I have always felt for those in colder climates from years gone by.

Google for heated toilet seats and you'll have lots of sites to select from. The problem about manufacturing these types of devices yourself are patents. You know how toilet seats always get grungy in the hinge area? I had an idea for a "quick release" toilet seat that you could easily detach and take to a sink to wash. Went to do a patent search on toilet seats and there are hundreds - including several on different quick release mechanisms for seats. Just think of all the brain power that goes into toilet technology. The mind boggles.
